Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I figured I'd pick back up with my St. John's Guide. Today I'm going to do one of the amazing little stores down town. It's called Johnny Ruth and Living Planet. It used to be two different stores owned by the same person, but they recently moved into a bigger space and put both stores together. It's a beautiful store and the still have all the things you loved about both places, now conveniently under one roof.
The Johnny Ruth side sells wonderful women's clothing from a collection of designers. I believe that most of them are local or Canadian. It's a bit pricey but not too bad and it's great because people are less likely to own the same item as you (which is a really big problem in St. John's). I haven't actually purchased to much from Johnny Ruth, but I do love their 'wristies'. I'll be featuring my latest pair of those soon in an accessories haul I plan to do very soon.
Living Planet sells T-shirts, dresses, baby clothes, etc. with some great graphic prints normally focusing on some local humor. For example you can get a shirt of a puffin fighting Godzilla. If you are just visiting the city this a great place to pick up some souvenirs. They carry a small collection of funny books or cutesy crap that no one will ever need but for some reason you feel like you have to have it.
